Brand Asset Management for Manufacturers: How Home Legend Made “Where’s the Logo?” a Non-Issue

Home Legend is a manufacturer of luxury vinyl and wood flooring, selling through big-box home centers, flooring distributors, and specialty retailers across the United States. As the brand grew across business units, from marketing to R&D, Sales, HR, Operations, and IT, the team needed a real approach to brand asset management for manufacturers. Assets had to stay consistent everywhere a customer or candidate might see them, not just in marketing materials.

They chose Brandy to bring structure and simplicity to that work.

The Challenge

Home Legend’s teams were moving quickly across many departments. They lacked a unified system to access and manage brand assets.

  • Brand files were scattered across Microsoft Teams, individual laptops, and old design documents
  • Getting the current logo meant tracking down a PDF someone made years earlier
  • Every business unit built its own version of the brand from whatever file it last received
  • Multiple logo variations, incomplete values lists, and unclear taglines circulated at once
  • New hires and freelancers learned the brand person to person. They depended on whoever had been there longest
  • The team had no living source for brand guidelines, only static PDFs

The team needed a solution that could scale brand consistency across every department. It had to work for more than just marketing, without becoming a bottleneck itself.

The Solution: Brand Asset Management for Manufacturers, Built to Scale

Home Legend implemented Brandy to create a single, living brand space that serves as its source of truth. The team used Brandy to:

  • Centralize logos, fonts, colors, video, brand reference material, and approved messaging in one place
  • Give every business unit, not just marketing, direct access to current assets
  • Replace static PDF brand guidelines with a living portal that updates as the brand evolves
  • Distribute presentation templates that stay current instead of being rebuilt from scratch
  • Make onboarding a link instead of a person-to-person handoff

Brandy became the default place any team at Home Legend goes when they need an on-brand asset. That includes marketing, R&D, sales, HR, and IT.

Implementation

The initial structure took a couple of days to set up. The full basic buildout was complete inside a week. Home Legend treated this as more than a one-time setup. As Global Director of Marketing Strategy Brennan Swing put it, “The idea of a PDF brand guide is archaic. You need to show creatives and the business how the brand lives at every touchpoint, physical and digital.” As new touchpoints are identified and new standards set, they get added directly to the portal.

The team added the Brandy link across the organization. Every department worked from the same source, with no more chasing down whoever last had the file. As the brand evolved, updated assets replaced old ones in place. Anyone pulling a file always had the current version.

The results

Asset requests dropped from four or five a day to zero in about three weeks. Marketing stopped acting as the help desk for the brand. According to Brennan, the shift required more than the tool. “It only stops when leadership holds firm and every request gets the same answer: a pleasant note and a link to the platform. The tool does not create the behavior change. Refusing to be the shortcut does.”

Confidence replaced guesswork. When someone in Sales or HR builds something now, they no longer wonder if they have the right logo or the right tagline.

Presentation creation got faster. Templates now live in the portal and get pulled fresh. They no longer get rebuilt from scratch or sent back for a “beautify this” pass.

Onboarding time dropped significantly. Home Legend has not onboarded a new hire since standing up Brandy. Based on past experience building brand teams, Brennan estimates a real brand portal cuts onboarding time by roughly 75 percent over time. The gains are largest for freelancers and outside agencies.

Why Brandy Works for Brand Asset Management for Manufacturers

Home Legend’s brand touches far more than marketing. Brandy gave the company a way to keep that brand consistent without slowing down any of the teams that depend on it. A static PDF guide cannot do this. Even alternatives like Frontify were not built with a multi-department manufacturer in mind. A living portal scales with the brand instead of becoming another file someone has to track down.

  • Works for design teams and non-design teams alike, since R&D, Sales, HR, Operations, and IT all use it day to day
  • Always current, replacing static PDF guides with a living reference
  • Centralizes assets, video, and approved messaging in one searchable place
  • Reduces dependency on manual, person-to-person asset sharing
  • Scales as the brand adds new touchpoints and new business units come online, including support for multi-brand spaces as the company grows

The next phase for Home Legend is expanding that same consistency outward, to partners and the retail channel. “You get the house in order first,” Brennan said. “Expanding access outward is the next phase.”
